Grade SS316 Washers are thin plates, usually shaped in the form of a disc with a hole in the centre. 316 Stainless Steel Washers are used in combination with a threaded fastener like a bolt or a nut. The main function of the washer is to evenly distribute the load of the threaded fastener.Depending on the requirement of the application, the shape of the washer could change.

For example, 316 Stainless Steel Square Washers also referred to as blind rivet washers are used to distribute loads while fastening bolts and screws in clamping and other fixing applications.316 SS Flat Washers are flat and are ring shaped. The flat or plain washers are generally used in applications where the hole of the washer has a larger diameter than the fixing nut.
The coatings or finishes used on grade 316 Stainless Steel Finish Washers include electroplating, phosphating, browning or bluing and chemical plating. Finishing the 316 Stainless Steel Cup Washers is done in order to reduce friction and wear by hardening their surface or by providing a solid, self-lubricating surface. One of the most commonly used coating materials used to finish stainless steel is zinc. Zinc has good corrosion resistance and acts as a sacrificial layer in highly corrosive environments. Besides zinc, nickel, chromium, silver are used to finish these washers.
Although 316 Stainless Steel Fender Washers are similar to plain washers in terms of their shape, the outer diameter of these washers are larger in proportion to the centre hole. This large diameter distinguishes fender washers from the conventional ones. Because of the larger surface of the fender washers, the capacity to bear load is higher as opposed to standard washers. Fender washers were named after they were used on the automobile fenders.
316 Stainless Steel Belleville Washers have a slightly conical shape. The conical shape of these washer’s provide an axial force in case of deformation. The serrations on the Belleville washers aids in improved locking capabilities.
