The astm a182 specification includes several grades of other martensitic, austenitic, Ferritic, Ferritic-austenitic stainless steels and low alloy steels .The selection of these alloys will depend upon design and requirements as well as the end use of the application.The sa 182 gr f91 is a martensitic stainless steel forged fitting. The additions of Nickel and Molybdenum to the a182 f91 chemical composition, gives the alloy excellent ductility at sub zero temperature environments.

The addition of these elements also is one of the reasons why the a182 f91 mechanical properties are superior to other standard martensitic stainless steels grades like 13 Cr, 410 and 420 Mod.The asme sa182 f91 flange steel is air hardened, with very little danger of the thick sections of the fastener cracking during heat treatment.

In addition to the maximum hardness allowance of the asme sa 182 gr f91 being limited to 23 HRC max, the NACE MR0175 imposes restrictions with regards to the heat treatment temperature.The a182 f91 material offers excellent weld ability and corrosion resistance. Its improved corrosion resistance along with the ability of this martensitic stainless steel grade to withstand high temperature and high pressured environments is the reason why the alloy is extensively used in the manufacture of a182 f91 blind flanges etc.

ASTM A182 alloy steel f91 is extremely ductile, strong and tough, which makes them durable and long lasting. Besides these properties, the astm a182 f91 offers good oxidation resistance and good resistance to scaling in aqueous medium. The f91 flanges grade is often used in combination or is mostly matched with the ASTM A335 alloy steel pipes.
