Hastelloy C22, also referred to as alloy C22, is a versatile austenitic grade alloy. Chemically the ASTM B574 UNS N06022 contains metals like nickel, chromium, molybdenum and tungsten in the alloy.The main property of the 2.4602 Steel Bar is its enhanced resistance to general corrosion like pitting as well as crevice corrosion. Hastelloy C22 Welding Rod is also known to resist stress related corrosion cracking.

The high content of chromium in the UNS N06022 Bar provides good resistance to the alloy in the presence of oxidizing media. The addition of both molybdenum and tungsten content in the Alloy C22 Round Bar offers good resistance to the alloy in reducing media.
This nickel based steel alloy, is also known to have excellent resistance when subjected to exposure in oxidizing aqueous media. For instance, the Hastelloy C22 Tig Rod displays excellent resistance to corrosion in wet chlorine and mixtures containing nitric acid or oxidizing acids with chlorine ions.

Hastelloy C-22 also display resistance to  other corrosive mediums like oxidizing acid chlorides, wet chlorine, ferric and cupric chlorides, formic and acetic acids,  brine, sea water. Additionally the alloy also resists many mixed or contaminated chemical solutions as well as both organic and inorganic.

This nickel alloy in the Hastelloy C22 Bar offers optimum resistance to environments where both oxidative & reductive conditions are encountered in process streams. This is property is beneficial especially in those industries, where there are multi - purpose in-house plants where the equipment’s come in contact with “upset” conditions occur frequently.

The nickel content in the Hastelloy C22 Round Bar resists the formation of grain-boundary precipitates in the weld heat-affected zone, thus making it suitable for most chemical process applications in the as-welded condition.Due to the formation of detrimental phases which form above this temperature, Hastelloy C22 Round Bar should not be used in service applications where temperatures rise above 1250° F

Forging operations can be performed between 1750° F - 2050° F followed by rapid cooling. Cooling the Hastelloy C22 Bar at an accelerated pace avoids the formation of detrimental phases which are  formed between a temperature range of 1400° F - 1800° F.
Since Hastelloy C22 is ductile, it can be formed by cold working, although, intermediate annealing may be necessary due to work hardening. Annealing can be done at between a temperature ranges of 2020° F - 2150° F followed by a rapid quench.

Hastelloy C22 Rod can be welded by gas tungsten-arc, gas metal-arc and shielded metal-arc processes.
