DIN 2633 Welding Neck Flanges is circumferentially welded into the system. The flange is welded at its neck, which means that the integrity of the butt welded area could be easily examined by conducting a radiography test.  Since the bores of both pipe as well as the flange match, there is a reduction in turbulence and erosion inside the pipeline . Hence, the din 2633 weld neck flanges is therefore favoured in quite a few critical applications .

The din 2633 pn16 flanges is generally produced by using either Forged or Cast Steel. Forged steel is an alloy of both carbon and iron that has been compressed under extreme pressure to make a very strong  & hard substance. Steel in a forged form has been used for over a thousand years to create all types of materials. Modernized forged steel is conducted with the use of specialized machines or hydraulic hammers.  On the other hand Cast steel is a iron containing alloy, with a maximum of approximately 0.75% carbon content. Cast steel is liquid steel that has been melted and cast in a mould. Cast steel is usually available in many similar alloys as carbon steels which can be created as wrought metals. Even though both wrought and cast steel share the same chemical composition, their mechanical properties tend to differ.

For instance, flanges made from Titanium and Super Duplex Stainless Steel will have good resistance to corrosion and a high tensile strength, but due to the cost of both, Super Duplex Stainless Steel and titanium being very high, they could be replaced by Duplex stainless steel.

The flanges with the dimensions of din 2633 standard can be used at a maximum temperature of about 120°C with up to 16 bar of working pressure. Using the din 2633 flange material at a temperature higher than, say between a range of 120°C to 300°C, could lead to the material yield point becoming lower. This needs to be taken into consideration while looking into purchasing these flanges.
