The dimensions of the Grade 12.9 Threaded Bar standard conforms to both the ISO 4014  specification as well as the 4017 specification. The only exception between the latter and later specifications being the increased head height for better wrenching ability in the Grade 12.9 Studs. The head of the  can be built either in the hex form or in the Torx form.

An additional feature of the Grade 12.9 Metric Bolts is its special or improved fatigue-resistant MJ (UNJ) thread form, which meets the ANSI dimensions standard specifications. Besides, the 12.9 Grade Allen Bolt is available in the market with either in zinc or chrome plating with the diameter size of the Class 12.9 Hex Bolt ranging from M5 to M160.

Grade 12.9 Hex Bolts are tightened with a torque wrench. This torque wrench tightens the bolt up to 90 percent of its proof load. Because of the hardened surfaces of the Grade 12.9 Material, lock washers are ineffective as  they can't bite into the metal.
