As the two Ring Type Joint  flange 150 lbs are bolted together and further tightened, the applied bolting force on the flange tends to deforms the gaskets inside the flange groove. This is known to create a very tight metal to metal seal. To make this happen, the material of the ring joint gasket has to be softer and more ductile as compared to  the material of the Ring Type Joint Flange Raised Face.

Pn16 Ring Type Joint  Flange flanges can be sealed by only Pn16 Ring Type Joint  Flange gaskets of different styles i.e. - R, RX, BX and profile. For example, an octagonal or oval one can be used as a seal for the R style Ring Type Joint  Flange Jis 16k .
The most common Api 6A Ring Type Joint  Flange gasket is the R style one, which has an octagonal section. This  R style alloy steel Ring Type Joint  flange ensures a very strong seal as the oval section is an older type. A flat groove design, however, accepts both Ring Type Joint  flange ansi b16. 5 gaskets that have either an octagonal or an oval section.

The RTJ flange is typically utilized in both high pressure ( ANSI Class 600 and higher rating) and/or high temperature applications, where the temperature can rise above 800°F . The Ring Type Joint  Flange Asme B16.5 have grooves cut into their faces with steel ring gaskets. The Ring Type Joint  Flange A105 is sealed when these tightened bolts compress the gasket between the flanges into the grooves,  thereby deforming or Coining the gasket while making intimate contact inside the grooves, thus, creating a metal to metal seal.

A Ring Type Joint  Flange Awwa C207 Class D could have a raised face with a ring groove machined into it. This raised face does not serve to sealing  any part of the Ring Type Joint  Flange Class 600. For Ring Type Joint  Flange Asme B16.5 Class 300 that are sealed with ring gaskets, the raised faces of the connected and tightened Ring Type Joint  Flange Din En 1092-1 may come in contact each other.

In this case the compressed gasket of the Ring Type Joint  Flange Jis 10k will not bear any additional load beyond the bolt. Thus,  tension, vibration and movement  in the flange cannot further crush the gasket or lessen the connecting tension in the Ring Type Joint  Flange Jis 5k.

Generally, Stainless Steel Ring Type Joint  Flange Manufacturer use various alloys to manufacture these flanges. But in applications where these flanges need to withstand harsh environments with extreme temperatures, manufacturers recommend using a duplex stainless steel Ring Type Joint  flange, as they have excellent mechanical, physical as well as corrosion resistance properties.
