When any piece of equipment that needs to withstand either interior or exterior corrosive media, Monel is the fail-safe solution. Uns N04400 Material is a solid-solution alloy that contains elements such as nickel  & copper. JIS NW 4400 Forged Threaded Flange  is hardenable only by the cold working process. The corrosion resistance of ASME /ANSI B16.5 Monel K500 Blind Flanges is similar to Monel 400 Alloy together with the exception of having increased tensile strength and hardness. Solution annealing will effect solution of any phases that will later effect the age hardening process. For hot-finished ASME /ANSI B16.5 Monel K500 Blind Flanges, solution annealing is carried out at a temperature of 1800ºF . While cold-finished products are treated at 1900ºF. The time required for holding at temperature should be for a period of about 30 minutes maximum and the alloy would normally be cooled in water. Process annealing is normally carried out between  1400 ºF to 1600ºF preferably for not longer than a duration of one hour.Age hardening Monel 500 is carried out for about 16 hours in between a temperature range of  1100 ºF to 1125ºF  , followed by furnace cooling at 15 ºF to 25ºF per hour to 900ºF for soft material, while the holding time for moderately cold-worked material is about 8 hours. For fully cold-worked material, the holding temperature ranges from  980 ºF to 1000ºF for a period of six hours, with furnace cooling as mentioned previously.
